We would venture to guess that most of you have at least one item from Ikea in your home. Some may have outfitted most of their living room in Ikea items (no judging!). The best thing about items from Ikea is that they are not only inexpensive (so you don’t feel too bad if your DIY transformation doesn’t come out exactly as you’d hoped…) but they are of such simple design that they make great blank canvases for your creations! Usually you try to keep pens and Sharpies off of the furniture, but in this DIY it’s the primary step. Just dab your slipcover in spots with a black Sharpie marker for the faux animal print you desire. The best part is, if you get tired of the look it comes right off the chair!

This simple Ikea table had its top replaced with some heavy duty concrete for a modern, industrial-chic look. There isn’t much of a tutorial for this one but it looks so pretty we just had to include it in the roundup!

This Ikea table went from glassy to rustic in this makeover. Just remove the glass top, measure out the boards to line up with the frame and attach. These boards were distressed, sanded, and stained to get the rustic look before attaching.

This APA Ikea Storage Box was once just plain old white and blonde wood until it was made over into this stylish piece of storage. A little stain and nail head trim and you have something that no one will ever know came from Ikea.

This makeover is quite clever. This bedroom bench seat used to be a TV stand. A little foam padding and some fabric turns this stand into a comfy seat perfect for the end of the bed. This is such a great idea because you can always change out the fabric for a new look when you need a change!
